FEREWELL, MOURINHO? CHELSEA BOSS ON THE BRINK AS HOLDERS CRASH OUT OF THE CAPITAL ONE CUP AS 10-MAN STOKE TOAST SHOOTOUT TRIUMPH

STOKE 1-1 CHELSEA (AET - Stoke win 5-4 on penalties): MATT LAWTON AT THE BRITANNIA STADIUM: Chelsea's crisis continued on Tuesday as Jose Mourinho's side were knocked out of the Capital One Cup after suffering a penalty shootout defeat against Stoke City. Mourinho appeared to be edging ever closer to the exit door at Chelsea after Jonathan Walters sent Stoke into the lead with a stunning 52nd-minute volley. But Mourinho took the gamble of switching to a back three and Loic Remy, on for the injured Diego Costa, scored a minute into second-half stoppage time. The Frenchman struck from a corner, seizing on Kurt Zouma's flick and driving the ball into the roof of the net.
